Servant Leadership

Who wants to be seen as self centered?
No one.

Hikers at peak_edited.jpg

Many people take a sober look inside and find that their motives, values and reactions are entwined around their self preservation and promotion. Self serving leadership is natural, instinctive and subtle.

Humility is the price of admission to grow beyond serving yourself. Self awareness and courage are required to make the change. It is a process. Along the way you pick up wisdom and develop the skills of a servant leader. True servant leadership operates out of an identity, convictions and values that say "you are more important to me than 'me.'"

Just about everyone agrees Servant Leadership is a good idea, but who helps you see yourself and the real impact you're having on others?

Purpose and Meaning at Work

Seventy-five percent of Americans say they are looking for ways to have a more meaningful life. We spend most of our time at work. Does your work mean something more than a paycheck?

A job without purpose and meaning drains life out of you. It leaves you weary for all the wrong reasons.

Do you know how your role, your department or your team fit into the greater cause of your business? Can you say with certainty that you are making a positive difference? Do you know why you do what you do for a living? Does your work matter, and how would you know?

Do whatever it takes to define the purpose of your work and find what gives it meaning.

Many people need to drive that search deeper to find what gives their life purpose and meaning. Sooner or later, we all pause and wonder "What's the point?" How do you go about answering the question "Why am I here?" Where can you even ask that question out loud?

Integrating Faith and Work

People with spiritual convictions who integrate their work and faith report greater job satisfaction, stay in those jobs longer and engage more fully as employees. To bring ones faith to bear at work provides your business with your best efforts.

However, people often do not know how to integrate their faith practically into their work and careers. It's easy to feel you need to check your faith at the door to avoid conflict or to fit in. Others feel their faith is deeply personal and just don't see a place for it at work. Others think that to simply live their values and be a good example is enough.

But, truly meaningful and profoundly satisfying work and faith Integration does not just happen. It is the insightful application and intentional expression your core beliefs and values to your work habits and relationships. It requires training, cultivation and a team.

Left to ourselves most of us chose down. Who has permission to call you up, help you see your blindspots and cheer for your successes?

Husband, Father and Fisherman

Three words, three ideas, three roles that prioritize my life. If I win in these realms, I will have had a very good life.

I serve others with grace and truth so that they grow into leaders who serve others, and I serve here first.
